So a bunch of fauxrealers caught a glimpse of the new flick “Whip It.” This was Drew Barrymore’s Directorial debut and I think she did a job well done. Ellen Page aka Bliss Cavender aka Babe Ruthless was the main lead in this film and it suited her perfectly. Not much different than her alternative, edgy Juno-esque character, Bliss Cavender venutres off into the world of Roller Derby. Trying to escape her boring life in Bodeen she looks to Austin, Texas for some fun and excitement. What she was getting into was a whole other world. A world full of tough, manly, rugged women ready to lace those skates up and look for a fight. I thought the casting was exceptional and even Eve (the horrible Ruff Ryder Diva) did quite well, maybe it was because she had limited lines. Either way I give this movie 2 thumbs up and highly recommend it. If you looking for a movie full of fights and macho massive meat heads, then this movie is definetly not for you. But if your interested in a feel good movie about a small town girl kicking ass on the roller rink, while meeting some interesting characters along her journey, then this is the film for you!
